In-nemusa

Is-sajf! Jew aħjar fl-eqqel tal-istaġun tas-sajf! X’tistenna sieħbi? Awwissu magħna? Xemx taħraq u taqli mhux biss il-ġrieden iżda dak kollu li jkollha quddiemha.

Imma dan huwa l-istaġun li jrid jiġi fuqna wkoll. Bħalma jiġu iva x-xitwa, il-ħajja u, (għall-erwieħ!), ir-rebbiegħa. Għax, bħalma dawn l-istaġuni ilkoll iridu jagħmlu tagħhom, anki s-sajf irid jagħmel tiegħu. Irid juri x’jaf!

Biss is-sajf, bħal, wara kollox, l-istaġuni l-oħra kollha, ma jiġix waħdu. Iżda, bħall-għarusa mħejjija għat-tieġ, iġib miegħu l-mistednin. Għax iħobb jagħmel il-party. U jalla jkollna party wieħed fis-sajf! Ibda’ mill-parties li jsiru f’okkażjonijiet apposta u spiċċa minn dawk li joħolqu xi ċorma ħbieb. Għax anki fis-sajf, minkejja daqshekk sħana, anki filgħaxijiet, xorta waħda jkollok min iħobb jagħmel il-parties. Sakemm kollox jibqa’ fil-limitu u l-party ma jsirx opportunità fejn wieħed jixrob kemm Alla ħalaq alkoħol inkella jabbuża mis-sustanzi u jidħol f’ħafna bawxati hu u miegħu jiġbed lil ħaddieħor miegħu, lanqas jimporta.

Jeżiżtu mbagħad tip ta’ mistednin ċkejknin ċkejknin. Ġieli bilkemm tarahom daqskemm ikunu żgħar. Ajma! L-aktar jekk ikun fid-dlam ta’ filgħaxija jew tard billejl. Imma ara taħsbu li ma jkunux hemm! Hemm ikunu ħbieb! U biex żgur jgħinuk u jgħinuni nifhmu li qegħdin hemm mhux l-ewwel darba li filli nibdew nitħaddtu ma’ xi ħadd u filli nibdew ngħajtu u nwaħwu wkoll. “Ajma! Naħseb li gidmittni n-nemusa!”

In-nemusa! Li isimha biss, almenu lili, jkexkixni! Taf li moħħi diġà ixxarrab bil-għaraq! U ħa ngħidilkom, għandi l-għaliex tafux! Il-każ li se nsemmi jmur lura fl-1990. U, biex inkun aktar eżatt minhekk, x’aktarx li kien għall-ħabta tas-7 t’Awwissu. Kien f’dak il-jum ħbieb, it-Tlieta, fejn telgħali partita deni. U deni ta’ żiemel! Niftakar li d-deni tant kien qawwi li, fid-dillirju li tani stajt nimmaġina affarijiet tal-biża’. Ħwejjeġ li jtaqqlu l-moħħ. U jkissruh. L-għaliex moħħi kien qed jerfa’ miskin tgħabija li ma kienx jiflaħ! F’dik iċ-ċirkustanza partikulari stajt iva nesprejenza l-kliem qawwi li Ġesù, huwa tiela’ bis-salib biex jissallab u jmut għalina, kien qal lin-nisa ta’ Ġerusalemm li kienu qiegħdin jibkuh: “Mbagħad jibdew jgħidu lill-muntanji, ‘Aqgħu fuqna!’, u lill-għoljiet, ‘Ordmuna!’” (Lq 23:30).

Fid-dellirju tad-deni li kelli fuqi bdejt nimmaġina kull muntanja daqshiex taqa’ fuqi. U, għolja wara l-oħra, bdiet tordomni. U meta nqum xi bdejt nara? Xejn għajr kollox innin quddiemi. Moħħi, mgħobbi kif kien bid-deni li kellu fuqu, ma setax jimxi jaħdem sewwa. Ommi, Alla jagħtiha dejjem is-saħħa, tgħidx kemm kienet inkwetat. Għalhekk kienet ċemplet minnufih it-tabib tal-familja biex jiġi ħa jara xi ġrali.

Kaxxa panadols wara l-oħra. U dan id-deni m’hemmx li jinżel. Ġimgħa. Tnejn. Tlieta. Sakemm fl-aħħar qtajnieha li mmur l-Isptar. Ħaduli d-demm. U x’irriżulta? Niftakar wieħed mit-tobba bravi tagħna, li dak iż-żmien kien għadu tabib żgħażugħ u illum wieħed mill-mustaċċuni tal-mediċina, ġie ħdejja għas-siegħa u nofs ta’ wara nofsinnhar. Qagħad bilqiegħda ħdejja u, bl-aktar mod ħelu, għaref u sempliċi, qalli: “Ara Mario. Ħa nfehmek naqra x’ġara. Kien hemm nemusa li marret fuq ġurdien u wara żaret naqra lilek”.

Dan id-diskors ma jista’ jmur qatt minn moħħi. Mhux l-għaliex hu diskors ta’ ħsara. Imma, sewwasew, l-għaliex huwa diskors ta’ xi ħadd li tassew iridli ħafna ġid. U ġid bil-bosta tant li salvali ħajti minn mewta ċerta. Ħbieb, ara ftit x’tagħmillek nemusa! Naqra ta’ nemusa kienet se titfagħni l-qabar. F’età daqshekk żgħira ta’ tmintax-il sena. Imma Alla tal-ħniena! Għaliex salvani permezz tat-tobba bravi u ta’ ħila tagħna.

Imma din hija l-ironija tal-ħajja ħbieb! Nemusa li, jekk toqgħod attent malajr tifqagħha ma’ ħajt, l-għaliex fid-dehra tidher tant dgħajfa, tista’ tagħmel tant ħsara. Tant ħsara li titfa’ persuna l-qabar. B’laħmu u xaħmu!

Għalhekk illum ma nagħtix tort lil min qed jibża’ mill-virus taż-Zika. Is-sintomi li joħroġu mill-virus taz-Zika mhumiex taċ-ċajt. Id-deni, ir-raxx, l-uġiegħ fil-għadam, il-conjunctivitis (lil-ħmura fl-għajnejn) żgur li m’huma pjaċevoli għal ħadd. Barra minhekk, u dan il-każ huwa tabilħaqq serju, qed jingħad li l-virus taż-Zika matul it-tqala jista’ jikkawża difett fuq il-fetu imsejjaħ microcephaly. Jiġifieri li r-ras tat-tarbija hija iżgħar minn dik ta’ trabi oħra tal-istess sess u età. Jgħidu li l-virus taż-Zika ġie skopert għall-ewwel darba fl-1947 u semmewh zika minħabba l-foresta Zika li hemm fl-Uganda.

It-tagħlima minn dan kollu hija waħda: avolja nemusa hija żgħira imma ħej ara ftit xi ħsara tista’ iġġib magħha. L-għaliex, almenu mill-esperjenza personali tiegħi, nemusa taf tkun dik li ġġorr tant mikrobi li taf titfagħhom fuq il-vittmi tagħha. L-aktar, bħali, dawk li għandhom demmhom ħelu!

Madankollu n-nemusa tfakkarni f’xi ħaġa oħra ferm aktar serja u li rridu noqgħodu b’seba’ għajnejn dwarha f’ħajjitna: ejjew nipproteġu lil xulxin minn dak kollu li jeqridna. Li jaf jeqred l-imħabba, ir-rispett u l-armonija ta’ bejnietna. L-għaliex in-nemusa naf inkun jien ħbieb, u mhux iż-Zika, meta nparla bl-addoċċ fuq l-oħrajn. Ilsieni jaf ikun dik in-nemusa qerrieda li jerda’ l-ferħ, il-kuraġġ, is-saħħa ta’ ħaddieħor b’kelma mhux f’postha. U meta dan iseħħ kemm ħsara issir! Ħsara li mhux faċli tissewwa la darba dik l-imbierka, biex ma ngħidilhiex misħuta kelma, tkun ħarġet minn fomm dak li jkun.

Illum nagħti raġun lil dak li jgħid Papa Franġisku fuq dan it-tip ta’ gdiem li jiġi minn nemusa tgergir. Jiġifieri dak il-kliem għal kollox distruttiv li tant iġib qerda kulfejn jintqal.

Vatican Radio) Pope Francis says sowing divisions and discord is a sickness within the Church and described a person who indulges in gossip as like a terrorist who throws bombs. His comments came during his homily at his Friday (4th September) Mass in the Santa Marta residence.
Taking his inspiration from St Paul’s letter to the Colossians where the Apostle spoke of how Christ was sent by God to sow reconciliation and peace among humanity, Pope Francis’s homily was a reflection on the need to sow peace rather than discord in our daily lives.
Do I sow peace or do I sow discord?
He said without Jesus no peace or reconciliation is possible and our task is to be men and women of peace and reconciliation in the midst of news about war and hatred, even within families.
“We’d do well to ask ourselves: Do I sow peace? For example, when I speak, do I sow peace or do I sow discord? How many times have we heard this said about a person: He or she has a serpent’s tongue! This is because that person is always doing what the serpent did with Adam and Eve, namely destroying peace. And this is an evil, this is a sickness within our Church: sowing divisions, sowing hatred, not sowing peace. So this is a question that we should ask ourselves every day: ‘Did I sow peace or did I sow discord today?” ‘But sometimes, we have to say things because he or she….’: But with an attitude like this, what are you sowing?”
Who brings peace is a saint, who gossips is like a terrorist
Christians, the Pope continued, are called therefore to be like Jesus who came among us to bring peace and reconciliation.
“If a person during his or her life does nothing else but reconcile and bring peace that person can be canonized: that person is a saint. But we need to grow that way, we need to have a conversion: never a word that divides, never, never a word that brings war, small wars, never gossip. I’m thinking: what is gossip? Oh it’s nothing- just saying words against another person or telling tales: ‘This person did…’ No! Gossiping is like terrorism because the person who gossips is like a terrorist who throws a bomb and runs away, destroying: with their tongue they are destroying and not making peace. But this person is cunning, right? He is not a suicide bomber, no, no, he takes good care of himself.”
Biting our tongue
Pope Francis concluded his homily by repeating a suggestion for Christians to bite their tongues rather than indulge in malicious gossip.
“Every day that I get the urge to say something that sows discord and division, to say bad things about another person… Bite your tongue! I can assure you. If you do this and bite your tongue instead of sowing discord, the first few times the wound will cause your tongue to swell because the devil helps us do this because that’s his work, his job: to divide.”
Therefore, my final prayer: “Lord, you gave your life, give me the grace to bring peace and reconciliation. You shed your blood, but what does it matter to me if my tongue gets swollen if I bite it before speaking badly about other people.”
